Happyville, new page

New page for the Spanish version of Happyville: nib, brush and ink for the line work. Something is on the beach, and nobody in the village wants to miss it…

These days I´m quite busy working on two books and I can not update the blog as much as I´d want to: you will have news from these two projects as soon as I am allowed to announce them.

Thanks for reading!

Autumn Almanac

Last illustration for the series dedicated to songs by The Kinks: this is for Autumn Alamanac.

“Friday evenings, people get together,
Hiding from the weather.
Tea and toasted, buttered currant buns
Can’t compensate for lack of sun,
Because the summer’s all gone”.

The creation of this one was pretty fast: I saw the idea from the beginning, and it actually works very well as an autumnal and poetic image.

I got the picture of a typical British potery decoration for the tea cup, with its classical golden rims:

And went to the sketch:

The autumn leaves falling from the tea pot and the use of autumnal colors expressed perfectly the idea of “indoor” tea during the autumn. This is the line drawing: ink and dry brush on a watercolor paper.

I hope you liked the series!
